Goodguys took on Delaware’s Monster Mile over the weekend with a full lineup of hot rods, cool customs, classic trucks, street machines, and other vintage rides for their 2nd Grundy Insurance Mid-Atlantic Nationals presented by R&M Performance!
The show kicked off on Friday morning, followed by an evening of cruising and parking lot gatherings. Classics made their way across the start/finish line of the track and into the infield. There were plenty of street rods, muscle cars, classic trucks, and everything in-between, showing, shining, and cruising around the grounds. Plus, everyone got their fix of tire-squealing, high-rpm racing on the Goodguys AutoCross Track.
The Goodguys awards team selected four finalists for their regional Goodguys Top 12 awards presented by BASF. These include Jason Owens’ 1969 Nova as the Snap-on Muscle Car of the Year finalist, Michael Chastain’s 1969 Camaro as the Griot’s Garage Muscle Machine of the Year finalist, Ralph Baldwin’s 1959 Corvette as the Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year finalist, and Gene Dickenson’s 1950 Ford as the Scott’s Hotrods ’N Customs Custom of the Year finalist.
The event avoided some foul weather on Friday and most of Saturday, but a brief downpour on Saturday afternoon led to an earlier-than-planned awards ceremony and conclusion to the event. However, it didn’t seem to dampen the hot rodder spirit of everyone who attended. Next on the Goodguys list are their two biggest shows of the year: the Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, July 4-6, followed by the Summit Racing Nationals in Columbus, July 11-13. MR
