You know the holiday season is coming up because Goodguys just wrapped up and celebrated their 42nd season in 2025, bringing amazing hot rod events to rodders across the country, ending with the 28th Goodguys Scottsdale Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals. It was quite a year, full of new friends, great times, and plenty of amazing rides. It was also a successful season, with notable hot rod events across the country, including the Southwest Nats.
The event started with a hot rod tour around the Phoenix area on Thursday as a warmup for Friday morning, when hot rods and trick trucks began filling the sprawling WestWorld grounds. Although the weather forecast didn’t look very promising, Friday turned into a great fall day, and Saturday mostly followed suit—perfect weather to walk through the swap meet, meet with all the manufacturers to see their latest parts, watch some autocross racing, and generally hang out with a few thousand other hot rod enthusiasts.
Throughout the weekend, Goodguys awarded over 75 honors, including presenting the In the Garage Media awards. Greg Heinrich’s 1971 Chevelle received the All Chevy Performance pick, Toby Tuttle’s 1976 Chevy dually was named the Classic Truck Performance pick, and Jeff Bjustrom’s 1952 Chevy earned the Modern Rodding pick. Our friend Dean Livermore of Hot Rods by Dean chose his top 10 vehicles for the Builders Choice, and Goodguys selected three finalists for their Top 12 program: Travis Milton’s 1956 F-100 as the LMC Truck of the Year Early finalist, Mikey Dascon’s 1969 International Scout as the Dakota Digital Truck of the Year Late finalist, and Ben Gonnerman’s 1970 Olds 442 as the Snap-on Muscle Car of the Year finalist.
With the 2025 outdoor show season officially over, it’s time to start thinking about the indoor shows and to begin making plans for the Goodguys 2026 season—which is already listed on their website! Check out the dates and start filling in your calendar. MR
