The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association kicked off its 2026 event season over the weekend with its 16th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals presented by Old Air Products at Texas Motor Speedway. The good news is that they made it through Friday without any rain, but they had to contend with Mother Nature all day Saturday.

For those who attended the show on Friday, it was a fantastic time with many hot rodders rolling through the tunnel and into the infield of the speedway. There were plenty of pro builders and manufacturers to see, along with autocross racing, pit road drag racing, and a track cruise to wrap up the day.

We selected the first three award winners from our In the Garage Media titles, including James Shoumaker’s 1967 Corvette for Modern Rodding, Brian Lescznski’s 1969 Camaro for the All Chevy Performance award, and Rodney Harris’ 1979 Crew Cab C10 for Classic Truck Performance.

Goodguys also chose four finalists for their Top 12 “Of the Year” classes: Doyle Thomas’s 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham as the Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year finalist, Terry Rose’s 1959 Chevy Suburban as the LMC Truck of the Year Early finalist, Dennis Mayfield’s 1970 F-100 as the Dakota Digital Truck of the Year Late finalist, and Ben Salazar’s 1971 GMC K10 as the Roadster Shop 4×4 of the Year finalist.

Even with the weather throwing a curveball, the Goodguys 2026 kickoff in Texas was a great time. This upcoming weekend, March 13 and 14, they’ll be in Scottsdale, Arizona, for the Spring Nationals, and you can bet the weather will be sunny and hot, so it should be a fantastic weekend!
