Golden Star Classic Auto Parts Shootout
The 11th Tri-Five Nationals presented by CPP will take place August 13-15, 2026, at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to everything you’re used to, there will be a three-day match-race series sure to grab your attention. Alex Taylor has run 6.50s at 220 mph, while Jeff Lutz has run an incredible 5.80 at 250 mph. Taylor tells us she has something “extra” for this weekend. Fast—that’s fast, you betcha.
Alex Taylor versus Jeff Lutz. Dare we say, “Young versus old.” Bring on the 1955 Chevy versus the 1957 Chevy … gotta love that. It’s a first-time race between the two and promises to be entertaining, exciting, and loud! You might even say this is the Tri-Five version of the famous Cha Cha Muldowney versus Don Garlits match races from decades past.
Be at the Golden Star Classic Auto Parts Shootout held on the hallowed drag racing ground that is known as Beech Bend Raceway. (Heck, they haven’t painted the bleachers since the ’60s! Or so it seems.) Look for the two racers to be pitted alongside the CPP booth in the vendor midway, signing autographs throughout the weekend. They will be positioned right beside and across from the CPP booth in the vendor midway, signing autographs all weekend. Racing at 12 and 4 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They will start the event at noon on the starting line and be the last two race cars to go down the quarter-mile on Saturday, ultimately crowning one of them as the Golden Star Shootout Champion.
Also, keep an eye out for the 1956 Chevy Gasser giveaway car built by Woody’s Hot Rodz on a Gen 4 Gasser Chassis. It features Golden Star Classic Auto Parts sheetmetal, powered by a Chevrolet Performance 430hp LS3 (with Modern Classic valve covers and valley pan to give the vintage “409” look), a Holley EFI tunnel-ram induction with dual GM drive-by-wire throttle bodies, and a Holley Dominator ECU. The V-8 and six-speed gearbox were prepared by Ed Rinke Performance Parts. Power is transferred to a Moser 9-inch rearend. Cooling is managed by a Matson crossflow aluminum radiator and a Holley serpentine belt system. The interior will showcase a Cars Inc. “Impala-styled” design. CPP supplied the in-tank pump needed for the EFI system.
