Background on the Car: I originally bought my 1979 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe in 1991 for $1,000 to be used as both my family and work vehicle. The truck had its original paint and a 250 six-cylinder, single-carb motor. After a decade, I started to restore the truck in my own garage, when I found spare time with the help of my two sons. I upgraded the motor to dual carbs with subtle chrome and some polished parts, including a polished Offenhauser valve cover, chrome air filter covers, and a chrome break booster. For a show detail, I added underhood mirrors. I reupholstered the interior and repainted the exterior to keep the original look. I also updated the stock radio. For a more modern touch, I upgraded the stock suspension and installed a Ridetech RidePRO E5 kit. I also swapped out the stock bumpers for chrome bumpers and swapped out the stock steering column for an updated tilt steering column. To keep with a semi-original look, I kept with 15×8 U.S. 455 series wheels and 255/70 tires. Everything in my truck has been rebuilt from the top down.
