Country’s Best-Looking Hot Rods, Trucks, and More Compete For Coveted Prize

It’s that time of the year once again when the one-of-a-kind extravaganza called the 2024 Barrett-Jackson Auction takes place in Scottsdale Arizona at Westworld. While the venue is well-known for the auctioning of some of the automotive industry’s most spectacular and collectible cars and much more it is the BJ Cup that means everything to the world of hot rodding.
The BJ Cup was begun by Craig Jackson back in 2013 and has grown in prestige and scope. It’s a three-part competition that is under the watchful eye of two of the country’s leading builders – Bobby Alloway of Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop and Troy Trepanier of Rad Rides By Troy.
The Barrett-Jackson Cup features 50 top-flight cars and trucks that encompass the world of hot rods, customs, classic trucks, sports cars, and much more. These 50 are selected from the numerous entries that come in during the year to the Barrett-Jackson offices and the final 50 are chosen. From here two distinguished awards are presented after the careful criteria are thoroughly thought through by the talents of Alloway and Trepanier. There is the “Ultimate Best In Show” and here is where the talents of Alloway and Trepanier shine. Next is the “People’s Choice Award”, voted on by Barrett-Jackson followers worldwide via social media. Talk about landing a huge number of votes.
The Ultimate Best in Show winner receives a $20,000 check and other prizes. Before receiving the BJ Cup there is a collection of the Top Five finalists that will also receive a tool chest and gift certificates, and next up is the People’s Choice Award.
The process begins on the opening day with a parade across the world-famous auction block during Family Day, which was yesterday, before being displayed inside the South Showcase throughout the entire week. Next is this upcoming Thursday when the Top Five Finalists will be announced. But it is this coming Saturday that everyone is waiting for. It will be on center stage the winner will be announced. Also, these Five Finalists, the cars or trucks, themselves are brought up on stage for all to see as well as a very large television audience. Craig Jackson and Bobby Alloway along with other Barrett-Jackson staff will be on hand to present the winner with the check for $20,000. At this same time, the People’s Choice will also be awarded.
