Everything is humming along at the 2024 Barett-Jackson Auction held here at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona. For those of us who are partial to hot rods then we are closely watching the Barrett-Jackson Cup competition which is currently revealing one-a-day of the finalists. Today is the third day of reveals and today’s being the 1967 Chevy pickup with the all-custom carbon fiber body or a true race truck chassis.
Owning this one-of-a-kind custom C10 pickup is Rod Parsons of Ripley, West Virginia. He teamed up with ZRods Customs and Fiber Forged Composites and the three saved and resurrected this ‘67 Chevrolet C10 pickup. Powering this beast of a truck is a Moran Racing 434-inch Chevy V-8 that is backed up by a SADEV six-speed sequential manual gearbox.
It can’t be stated enough that this truck is running on a truly complete race truck chassis put together by Detroit Speed featuring their suspension. Kyle Tucker of Detroit Speed fame was involved in the building of the truck, specifically the chassis, and handled much of the initial track testing. From here it was modified by ZRods and Customs with additional stiffening. The rolling stock is made up of Billet Specialties wheels along with low-profile performance rubber.
The interior is more than race-inspired as it is truly race-ready. A Riggs Brothers interior is ergonomically designed for the driver’s fit and comfort and meets all the required safety specifications.
The exterior shows off a 100 percent carbon-fiber monocoque body that is painted in BASF Maroon by ZRods Customs.
The truck has taken home other honors such as the 2023 Triple Crown of Rodding Truck of the Year in its class, as well as the 2023 Goodguys Truck of the Year, and the 2023 SEMA Hot Rod Industry Alliance Design and Innovation Award. MR
