Officially called the “Ultimate Best In Show” it’s also referred to as the Barrett-Jackson Cup and so for 2024 a new winner is crowned and it’s the 1960 Buick Invicta. Owned by George and Angela Eliacostas and scratch-built by Cal Auto Creations under the watchful eye of Andy Leach. The ’60 Buick is no stranger to “surviving” the competition having won virtually every major award it could this year. Beginning with the Slonaker Award at the Grand National Roadster Show through the Triple Crown of Rodding late in the year this ’60 Buick…titled the X60 Invicta Custom has set the bar everywhere.
The Barrett-Jackson Cup winner takes home plenty of prizes along with the $20,000 check and sums up its place as one of the outstanding hot rods to be built in a long, long time, let alone 2024. Here at the BJ Cup, it was one of 50 cars and trucks that included all sorts of build styles from traditional hot rods to customs, to trucks, and sports cars to bring home one more – the Barrett-Jackson Cup. As in years past, this year’s judges are Bobby Alloway of Alloway’s Hot Rods and Troy Trepanier of Rad Rides by Troy and with their impeccable credentials there can be no denying the ’60 Buick was the one.
