Paul Atkins was in the process of building a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray for himself, and after picking away at it for approximately 12 years, one of his longtime friends, Scotty Hooper, expressed interest in buying the car from Atkins even before it was completed. Turns out Scotty was persistent in pursuing the car and offered Atkins the right amount of money so Atkins ended up completing the Corvette for Scotty as an exceptional-looking, show car with a modern suspension and powertrain giving it the driveability of a late-model sports car.
