Some may confuse it as “tooting one’s own horn,” whereas I see it solely for what it is: telling your story in YOUR own words. Case in point: Jason Fonte. You may recall the cover feature on Jason’s 1973 patina Squarebody, “Mr. Simpson” (May ’25 issue), where he told the tale of his Chevy’s reconstruction in his own way. Well, as that issue was going to print, his next project was not only on deck, it was on its way to being quickly completed. So, just as I did with the C10, I gave Jason the clear directive: give it to me straight. And he did just that.

“Here’s the deal: I built “Project BLKD OUT—an all-blacked-out OBS Crew Cab longbed dually, slammed on 24s. She was a beast. Should’ve held onto her a bit longer, but you know how it goes. Fast-forward through a few game changers and I found myself needing another dually in my life.

“I spent five months hunting for the right one. Nothing. Nada. Zip. So I hit up my guy—you might know him as “Sexy Gingy,” aka Mr. Derek Schaefer—and within 5 minutes, boom. He finds one in his neck of the woods in Washington. The universe provides. Once it hit my garage, I dove straight into the game plan: stance, style, and who’s who for the build. Naturally, I lit up the ‘HERE WE GO AGAIN’ signal in the sky—and the squad pulled up like always!

“First and foremost, Tony at PrrDiem Fab and Willy at Creep Works on the ones and twos—non-negotiable (i.e., they handled the bulk of the work—Editor!). Audio Concepts dialed in the disco. Michael’s Truck Works did their thing with the floating billet bling (i.e., the wheel center caps that don’t rotate!). DC Fab dropped some killer metalwork and paired it with an AccuAir kit and Slam Specialties bags. (That one needs no ’splainin’!)

“The mission? Slam it to the ground, keep it as OE as possible, and just skate. That’s the vibe. Massive thanks to my wifey—always the real MVP. To my fam at Relaxed Atmosphere—mad love to Juan Trevino and Keith Hathaway. And to this legend—Eddie, aka Mr. XXLF250—you know the deal.”

OK, for the laymen out there, here’s the breakdown of what’s beneath that DeWitts Paint and Body, OE-massaged exterior: Hart Fab bead-rolled inner fenders and custom firewall underhood; DC Fab full front/rear suspension with aforementioned e-Level control, SS7, and Aldan adjustable shocks. Literally beneath and/or surrounding the Olympic White paint, the bumpers have been tucked and stake pocket holes filled; Anzo LED lighting added (with United Pacific rock lights) along with a chrome ’94 Chevy grille. Finally, the interior has been updated with a host of Alcantara suede and Porsche leather with LG Billet accessories, custom center console, and door/kick paneling; pro-level audio featuring Kicker head unit, Mosconi amps, and Focal drivers.
