LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals Ft. Worth, Texas … it’s More Than Just Trucks

Goodguys Kicks Off Their 2021 Show Season

Goodguys Rod & Custom Association kicked off their 2021 outdoor show car season with the 11th Annual LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals in Ft. Worth, Texas held at the Texas Motor Speedway. For sure there were plenty of classic trucks to look over (checkout our sister publication Classic Truck Performance for the “rest of the story”) but lest we be too quick in our appreciation there were plenty of hot rods of all years and makes to catch our eyeballs attention.

The event is open to all 1987 and older hot rods guaranteeing copious amounts of “eye candy” to make sure every hot rodder goes home happy having seen everything he, or she, would like to see at a full weekend of very cool hot rods. There was a spot set aside for OBS trucks (1988 to 1998) that was a hot spot for sure but there was also the Nitro Thunderfest Dragster Exhibition, Burn Out Competition, Swap Meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, and lots for the little ones to enjoy as well. This weekend was treated to thousands of cars and trucks as well as a very large spectator crowd. (Goodguys still maintained COVID-19 guidelines with social distancing, mask wearing, and plenty of handwash stations to make sure everyone had fun as well as a healthy weekend.)

If you like your rodding events with a little “action” then the Life Between the Cones AutoCross series presented by CPP would be to your liking. (Look for the Goodguys CPP AutoCross Series to be featured at a number of Goodguys events this summer.) This highly competitive event is always a crowd pleaser and should you fancy yourself a “hot shoe” with a “hot ride” then this is a must try for you.

For those of you who prefer trunks to beds then there was plenty to get excited about as well. How about the Builder’s Choice presented by Hills Hot Rods & KC’s Paint Shop, followed by the Homebuilt Heaven presented by Speedway Motors, and then the Tri-Five Chevy Corral presented by Designer Street Rods. Should you like your hot rods a bit more traditional than there was the Deuce Doins presented by Affordable Street Rods, and the Ya Gotta Drive ‘EM award presented by Lecarra Steering Wheels. For those that like the later model muscle car offerings there was the Camaro Corral presented by Metal Bros., Mighty Muscle presented by Detroit Speed, The Next Generation presented by Goolsby Customs, and Air Cooled Corral (persona favorite those Vee Dubs) presented by Golden Start Classic Auto Parts. Plenty of awards to go around for oh so many worth rides.

Given what everyone has been through the past year it was a welcome sight to be out and among other hot rodders enjoying our rides and having some fun. Stay tuned for a summer full of excitement and plenty of action at the Goodguys series of events. MR
