Every spring, street rods, customs, and classic trucks roll into East Tennessee for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals South. The event is nearing its 50th anniversary and for the past few years the folks at Scott’s Hotrods ’N Customs have kicked it off with an awesome open house event on Thursday evening. When Scott’s Hotrods relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, it had just enough room to host this annual event. Since then, Scott’s Hotrods has built a huge shop dedicated to car builds, while the original shop building is strictly for chassis and parts manufacturing. The new shop area opened some additional room for parking spots—and it’s a good thing because every available space was filled.
We were excited to see the new addition, as it provides an excellent space for the extensive builds that take place at Scott’s Hotrods. There are more than a dozen builds in progress, all in various stages of completion. From chassis swaps to ground-up builds, there is no shortage of projects inside the shop. The expansion also allows more room for chassis manufacturing with additional tables and fixtures to accommodate the high demand.
In addition to browsing the buildings, we checked out the cars and trucks that squeezed into every available parking area on the property. From traditional hot rods to contemporary customs there were hundreds of cars and trucks on hand. Free barbecue, music, and good old-fashioned bench racing made the Scott’s Hotrods Open House the perfect way to kick off the NSRA Street Rod Nationals South in Knoxville, Tennessee. MR
